Let’s Go! San Diego Campaign Kicks Off With Enthusiastic Support

Imperial Beach, CA –The Let’s Go! San Diego campaign officially launched yesterday with a successful kickoff event at Pier Plaza in Imperial Beach. The event brought together a diverse coalition of San Diegans, community organizations, labor leaders, and businesses all united in support of the transformative transportation measure on the November 2024 ballot.

Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the urgent need for investing in San Diego County’s transportation infrastructure. 

After successfully collecting over 125,000 signatures to qualify for the November 2024 ballot, the Let’s Go! San Diego citizen’s initiative will allow voters to choose a better transportation future for San Diego County, avoiding LA-style traffic, smog, and congestion.Together, we can provide the essential transportation improvements that will make life better for San Diego County residents.

Community Leaders Expressed Enthusiastic Support for the Measure 

Patricia Mendoza, ACCE grassroots organizer from Imperial Beach highlighted the personal impact of the measure, stating: “Having access to a more frequent and efficient public transportation system will have a positive impact on the families in our community. As a single mom with two young kids, I know the challenges of not having good public transportation. That’s why I am proud to support this measure.”

Jeremy Abrams, IBEW 569 Business Manager, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled the people of San Diego County will have the opportunity to vote on the Let’s Go! San Diego initiative this November. Let’s Go! SD will fund critical safety repairs, expand public transit, and generate local, high-road jobs with family-sustaining wages. It’s time we get past the gridlock and get San Diego moving again.”

Skyler Johnson, Campaign Manager for Let’s Go! San Diego, expressed excitement about the campaign’s potential impact. “Our coalition is dedicated to making a positive difference in San Diego County. With the support of our community, we can achieve meaningful change that benefits everyone,” said Johnson.
