Sierra Club Endorses Let’s Go! San Diego Ballot Measure
July 10, 2024
San Diego, CA – The Sierra Club is proud to announce its endorsement of the Let’s Go! San Diego ballot measure, a transformative initiative set to appear on the November 2024 ballot. This measure aims to significantly enhance San Diego County’s transportation infrastructure, improve public transit, create jobs, and protect the environment.
“Approval of this measure would be a game changer for San Diego,” said Richard Miller, Chapter Director of the Sierra Club San Diego Chapter. “For too long we have ignored much-needed public transit where we need it, when we need it. This measure also brings funding to protect our natural habitats while helping reduce the causes of the climate crisis.”
The Let’s Go! San Diego measure generates funding for essential transportation projects. Key elements of the measure include reducing traffic and gridlock, expanding the public transit system, and repairing aging infrastructure. The measure also emphasizes environmental sustainability, reducing air pollution and preserving natural habitats, aligning with the Sierra Club’s mission to protect the environment.
The Sierra Club’s endorsement underscores the broad support that the Let’s Go! San Diego measure has from environmental groups, community organizations, labor unions, and businesses. This diverse coalition is united in support of the measure which will address current transportation challenges and pave the way for a greener, more efficient way of moving San Diego County forward.
